What we collect

When you purchase and activate a sort license, we collect:

• Email address (for license delivery)
• Machine identifier (a hash of your hardware characteristics, used for activation)
• License activation and validation timestamps

What we don't collect

• File contents, names, or metadata from your scanned directories
• Chat messages or conversation history (stored locally on your machine only)
• Browsing history or usage analytics

Local-first architecture

sort is designed to be local-first. All file scanning, content extraction, proposal generation, and plan execution happens entirely on your device. No file data ever leaves your machine.

The only network communication is license validation, which sends your license key and machine identifier to our servers.

Data storage

License and activation data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure (D1 database). Your local application data (scan results, plans, rules, conversation history) is stored in a SQLite database on your machine.
